stockings on fireplaceThis Christmas was particularly brilliant for me in that all my four grandchildren were in the house for the big day! The beauty, intelligence, and surpassing GRACE of these children can be overwhelming--though it is true that the occasional loud screaming fit tends to moderate the enthusiasm.
My motto as granny has always been to spend money like a drunken sailor. SO, there was a choice set of dainty stockings (stitched by some hard working Etsy slave) hung by the fireplace with care. Each lovingly transcribed with a child's name!

eating the chocolate santa On Christmas day the children were delighted to find them filled with an appealing collection of age appropriate items. The large chocolate Santas were especially popular, and indeed had to be forcibly removed before the children ate themselves into a stupor. Rage and despair were averted when their reappearance was promised for dessert that evening.
Afterwards, my granddaughter noted her discoveries about the holiday: "At Christmas you get chocolate and goldfish."
