Hope

Hope is so thrilled to have finally attained grandmotherhood! Constantine Moses Caldwell was born to Beatrice and Alec on August 19th, and the whole world has changed! He is an amazingly cute baby, and Hope tries to get up to NY once a month to see him. He is growing by leaps and bounds! He and his parents are visiting over Christmas, and Hope AND the cats are very much looking forward to it!
This is my 4th Christmas without darling Lawrence. How happy this baby would have made him! He always longed for grandchildren.

Aaron Aaron spent 2016 working hard in America, aligning his business so that he can return to working on expanding to new markets in Eastern Europe in 2017. He moved from Alexandria to renting a little house in suburban Springfield, where he does not delight in the endless toils of yard work. He spent the summer fishing and even took a part time job at Fletcher's Cove to help others learn to kayak and fish on the Potomac.
Arabella Arabella began a Happiness Project in 2016, and had a phenomenal year! She got recertified in all her Certs, and got her PT business going. She started Italian lessons and piano lessons, and is doing pretty well in both. Got a brand-new camera and took lessons—got a coloring book and took a painting lesson! She’s discovered so much new music—has gone to many concerts, and even went to 3 musicals! She read more books than ever before! She started volunteering at the MaxFund Animal Shelter where she walks two dogs a week. She became an ambassador for a clothing line called Aspen and Pine. She went to the Denver Zoo and Aquarium (finally!), visited Colorado’s Great Sand Dunes and Hanging Lake, and went on many wonderful hikes! She traveled to England to spend time with family and Italy to visit childhood memories, as well as to Cinque Terre and Naples. On the home front, she cleaned out the entire house—got a brand new crockpot and has cooked so many new recipes! Got back into yoga and learned how to meditate–and has been doing it ever since! She even voted in the scary election! And she dated a lot and may have even found love!? It’s truly been a wonderful year!
Beatrice and Alec and Constantine Beatrice & Alec turned 40, moved into a (really fabulous) apartment that Jacob once lived in, toured endlessly with KISS, launched two hotel revenue management (aka surge pricing) systems, had a baby, did not go to Greece or Maine. They did not both do all of these things but they did do many of them together. Figure that one out.
Squab had his most exciting year ever. It included coming into existence, eating a lot, sleeping sometimes, taking baths every few days, and chatting with Blue Dog, the Friends in the Sky, Ceiling Fans, Hedgehog, Book, and other people. He looks forward to shrieking at all of you.
Jacob Jacob moved back to Brooklyn in the spring of 2016 after becoming single again. He got a lovely new job at Uncubed, a recruiting company that produces skills videos, and has enjoyed collaborating with his coworkers there. He spent the summer rock climbing in the Hudson Valley and visited his stepsister Arabella in Denver.
Joy Joy. This year Joy crossed the pond no less than three times, starting with a wonderful trip to Maine that involved all sorts of family and friends and lobsters, then a visit to New York to meet her nephew and attain official Aunt status (has to be done in person don't you know), and finally for the current holiday goodness. Back home in Leeds all is well and she continues to be an academic / technology type at the University of Bradford, cycling the Yorkshire hills occasionally, and enjoying the northern city life.
Elaine Elaine, Alec's Mom, began her career in Washington, DC in advertising/marketing (fashion mostly). Moved to New York in '75, birthed a prototype of Constantine in '77 (the two events apparently not connected. Edged back to the career with a furniture company and never quite left. After 10 years, still working part-time for Moroso, an Italian furniture manufacturer. Quite amused and delighted to be a grandma.
