March blew in like a lion, as it usually does. March is really NOT a great party month.

After each nasty storm, Bertie was shocked--SHOCKED--to find his garden was now a horrid Antarctic ice field. The snow eventually melted, and I managed to weather the storms--but was somewhat disconcerted to find that I was to celebrate the date of my birth by reporting for Jury Duty. However, it was painless--we were dismissed after only an hour. |  |

Jeremy was in town for his Rock and Roll Marathon, and so for once we had some of the California family in attendance. Then, Beatrice and Jacob arrived from Brooklyn, and our party weekend commenced! I strung up the decorations, and Sophie kindly tested them for me.It turned out they had to be placed a little higher up. Which was FINE. |  |

Jenny and Seth brought a mountain of delicious cold cuts, Daniel and Claire brought side dishes, and we had a very lovely party. Everyone sang Happy Birthday, and Jenny and I blew out the candles, and then opened our presents. Thank you to everyone who helped us to celebrate!
